One of the greatest natural healers in the last century was the late John Bastyr, ND. He is regarded today as the Father of Modern Naturopathy and was a important teacher and mentor of mine while I attended Bastyr University (Class of '84). He was once asked what the fundamental difference was between a naturopath (ND) and allopath (MD). He replied in his soft and gentle voice, “with naturopathy, it’s not the doctor that does the healing, it’s the patient”.

Now after almost 20 years in practice, I have been fortunate to witness his words over and over.

Dr. Swanson received his doctorate of naturopathic medicene (ND) in 1984, from Bastyr College of Naturopathic Medicine (now Bastyr University). He is among the original "pioneer graduates of Bastyr". He is the former Associate Editor for the Journal of Naturoapthic Medicine, published by the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. As National Product Director for HealthComm, Inc. in 1990; w/ Jeffery Bland, PhD, -- he was the principal formulator of UltraClear Metabolic Detoxification Program. He then became Medical / Technical Director for Omega Nutrition, the original and pioneer manufacturer of omega-3 Flax Seed Oil. He was also technical consultant to professional label supplement manufacturers and preventive laboratories, such as, Tyler Encapsulations and Great Smokies Diagnostic Laboratory.

Dr. Swanson practices "researched scientifically based naturopathic medicine" in Sequim, Washington. His longtime experience and practice expertise is a primary reason why the surrounding medical community has gained respect for the complimentary care provided here.
