Clearing Diet for Metabolic Detoxification

(Diet Revision Therapy) Outline: “Clearing” refers to the disappearance of physical and emotional symptoms or disturbances. It is an important part of detoxification. The goal is to clear the vast majority of troublesome food molecules (usually proteins), which may be triggering an allergic type or intolerant response. In the liver, detoxification is also intensified and needs supporting. The clearing period is also referred to as “washout” and lasts 10 days. This program is not a fast. It is nutritionally supported with a selected list of low glycemic foods. These are listed below. During clearing, allowable foods are referred to as your “core foods” These are the only foods you are allowed to eat during the clearing phase. Some patients may experience a day or two of withdrawal symptoms, usually beginning on the 3rd or 4th day. This is a time when symptoms may become worse, physically an/or emotionally. This quickly subsides and you should begin to feel more mentally clear. At least 3 days prior to starting the clearing diet, eliminate caffeine, alcohol and sugar. Do not stop any medications unless instructed.

Cooking hints:There are not set rules on how to prepare foods, except do not fry anything in oil or overcook foods. The Core Food List has been expanded to allow more creativity in food choices and meals. Steam rice and vegetables medium firm (not real soft) to retain a lower glycemic index. 2/3 of the daily calories should come from vegetables and fruit. During the first 3 days, do not eat vegetables raw, except tomato or carrot. Purchase organic meat that is hormone free if possible. Do not eat farm raised fish. At breakfast, try rice or barley with fruit, or leftovers from the night before. Try cold (cooked) salads for lunch. Other menu ideas include: lentil/rice soup with vegetables, Chinese chicken stir fry with vegetables, baked chicken breast, turkey and vegetables with cherry-lentil sauce, cooked curried yam with vegetable and fruit, baked apple with cinnamon, frozen berry-kiwi puree sweetened with stevia. Red lentil sauce: Brink 2 cups water to a boil, add 1 cup red lentils, season water with cumin, curry, garlic, etc., Simmer on low heat until lentils are soft, about 10-15 minutes. Use whip or blender to make a creamy sauce. Use on vegetables, meat and rice or barley. Servings and Portions: Use sensible portion control. Eat lightly, using small portions. If you have a history of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) eat more frequently throughout day, rather than 3 regular meals. Most people will loose some weight during clearing. This is expected. Ideally, the total calories during the day should stay between 1100 Kcal and 1600 Kcal, depending on your size and basal metabolic rate. This most likely will be much less food than you typically eat. Over the course of a day, foods from each core group should be eaten. Water: Use only filtered or bottled water (not distilled). Drink a minimum of 2 quarts daily. In a quart bottle, add 20 drops of ConcenTraceä Minerals and a squeeze of lemon juice and pinch of stevia. As an option, you can add 1 level teaspoon of Vitali Green Extract or seep one bag of Optio Green Tea Supreme or OptioWeight Loss Tea over night in the refrigerator. Please note, green tea contains some caffeine. Avoid if you are caffeine sensitive. Juices do not count as fluid intake.

Once you are in the clearA 10-day gradual washout using Core Foods is usually effective at clearing for most people. Others may require a longer clearing period. A few may require a more radical washout using a specially prepared medical food beverage that assists in clearing. Fasting with only water or juice, especially for initial clearing and detoxification purposes, is not recommended.

The goal here is to get you “in the clear”. Without this you will not experience the mental clarity, calmness, serene, relaxed sort of happiness that accompanies. There is also an increased ability to concentrate, irritability and anger lifts, and of course, a host of medical problems suddenly vanish. For many these becomes a healing transformation.

Staying in the clearThis is called Phase 2 Diet Revision and will be discussed at your post-clearing follow-up.
